About ACL Fest 2005

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Hi Everyone, Dave here.

ACL Fest 2005 is over, and it turned out to be the hottest and not quite least of the ACL Fests. But, oy, was it hot. I got there on Friday afternoon with my friend Scott, and after a few numbers of Steve Earle, I headed straight to the pool. It was far too hot to sit outside.

Refreshed and relieved, I heard some good sets from John Prine, Lucinda Williams, and Lyle Lovett.

The best set was the Theivery Corporation’s pre-show after-party on Thursday night at Stubbs. I was very impressed and really enjoyed it.

On Sunday, I got to see Wilco in 110 (F) heat. But it was worth it — although a few folks were nearly dying. Would I go again? Probably, but every year I swear I won’t. But who knows… it’s a promise I’ve never kept before!

Arrrghh!

ACL FEST IS COMING!

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005

Sorry if I’ve been quiet lately, it’s largely been due to A) the passing of my mom, B) school starting, and C) the imminent arrival of the 2005 Austin City Limits Music Festival and International Talk Like a Pirate Day!! Below, mately, you’ll see my three day planning schedule, although I’m sure it’ll change. But one thing is certain — I WILL SEE WILCO THIS YEAR. Oh yes, it will happen. Ahoy!
