The Moon 2012!
Thursday, August 5th, 2004I think it’s time to end the debate and settle the score. Why do we, normal, hard-working Earth-type people, keep dragging the Olympics to the same old, run-down, tired countries? I mean, who really wants to see a pole vaulter in Athens? Who cares if some guy in Beijing breaks the world record in speed ticket sales?
No, it’s time to take the Olympics to a whole new level… miles above anywhere they’ve been before — that’s right, it’s time to take the Olympics to the Moon.
First off, think of the advantages: no delayed construction… no cities spending billions all to be blown in a few weeks. The Lunar Olympic Biosphere Environment (or LOBE) would be completely constructed on Earth, launched, and then tethered to the moon.
And think of the safety — no terrorists in space!
And best of all, the events would be incredible… every record would be broken! On the Moon, everyone can go faster, farther, and higher than ever before!
So that’s my platform. Vote the Moon, 2012.
